CURIOUS?
I’m no Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot or Nancy Drew. Yet, these fictional detectives have a penchant for sleuthing just like I do. Besides being a curious sleuth at (he)art, exploring interestingness is my side gig. Curiosity gifts me wow-worthy moments. So, Curious Sleuth is my tagger moniker as a yarn graffiti artist describing me better than any professional title in my bio ever could.

About Curious Sleuth
Stacey Rozen is a craftivist, story-threader, yarn graffitist, and digital artist. Her portfolio as a graphic designer and creative writer informs her creative practice. Stacey’s transdisciplinary approach is at the confluence of crochet, digital art, and story-threading. She is an avid crocheter and her subversive hook opposes conventional fibre handcrafting traditions as a catalyst for craftivism, dialogue, and healing.
Our Threads are Tellers of Us
Stacey facilitates community-driven activations in third spaces with real-life humans. The gatherings and immersive installations place co-creation, collaboration, and lived experiences at the core of her work by engaging with real-world issues such as gender-based violence, climate change, and societal scarcity. She reflects on these projects in her ongoing collection of stories titled Our Threads are Tellers of Us at this Stitch in Time.
Digital Humanities
Stacey is a Ph.D. candidate in Digital Arts. Her research in digital humanities investigates craftivism and artificial intelligence (AI), and how we preserve our humanness in the age of AI. She has a Master of Arts in applied drama and researched the role of a craftivist facilitator working with vulnerable teen girls in a marginalised community in Soweto.

Thread Count
Thread Count is a space for me to express my human-authored thoughts behind my formal academic thinking. There are no polished ideas, just conversation sparkers. This publication embodies a craftivist’s inter-threading of human and machine through the (de)coded datasets of crochet and digital art in the age of AI. Literally, the phrase “thread count” is the number of warp and weft threads woven into cloth. Thread Count, symbolically explores “thread” as embodied fibre yarn and “count” as computational data. Craftivism (handcrafts + activism) sits in the tension between these two information networks where stories are stitched by the human hand, and then shared, measured, and archived digitally. These stories are creatively or detrimentally tweaked by AI. Follow me on Substack.
